Maine Merchant & Marine Burgee
The Maine merchant and marine flag, also known as the state naval ensign, is intended to be flown on vessels that call Maine home. It was designated by the Maine Legislature in March 1939, and the earliest known example was presented the following month to famed explorer Donald MacMillan ahead of an expedition to the Arctic aboard the schooner Bowdoin. Though tattered from years of service, this same flag still exists today and is on display at Maine Maritime Academy.
Our Maine merchant and marine burgee features the naval ensign’s pine tree and anchor on a triangular pennant. Fly it from your boat to show that you call Maine home!
Burgee includes two Brass Grommets.
